A Dangling USB

I presently have three ways to back up my computer data: putting the data into Dropbox (which puts it into “outer space”) or using one of two USB external storage backup attachments. Last week, one of the external storage attachments stopped working. Stored in it are a life’s worth of photographs and videos I have collected. Their loss would be a great one so, after removing the cords, I made an appointment with the Geek Squad. My intent was to see if they could recover the data and transfer the data to a new external storage item. My partner helped me do the disconnecting¬†and, when I asked him where the USB had been attached, he said “nowhere.” Anticipating that that might be the source of my problem, I then reattached the two cords (power and USB) to the computer, watched it load immediately, and canceled my Geek Squad appointment. False alarm.

I continue to amaze myself when I fix something that I never had an understanding of how it works!
My 85 year mother me to pull the front off the dryer and replace a belt. I googled it and it was a ten dollar belt and five minute job.
