Todd’s Tomato Dad

For years, I planted a small vegetable garden annually and watched my garden grow. What a thrill to plant something from seed and see it germinate and grow, eventually producing fruit. During those years, I grew tomatoes, squash, cucumbers, and green onions. When I moved into my present home in 1989, I learned after several plantings that I have too much shade in my yard to grow vegetables so I stopped. In October of this year when I visited my son Todd, I found that he had a huge crop of tomatoes in his backyard in Tennessee. Once again the fever struck me and, as soon as I got home, I headed to the local nursery and purchased a rather spindly tomato plant. That was about a month ago. Since then, I have nurtured it and finally am seeing results. It looks healthy and has just produced the first tomato baby. If I get only one tomato from this plant, I will be enormously happy and proud. My son Todd will also be proud of me.
