Many Moons

In Miami, they sing “Moon Over Miami.” In St. Petersburg, we sing about the sun more than the moon. However, the moon can be just as bright and beautiful here in St. Pete as it is in Miami. It’s just that “Moon Over St. Petersburg” doesn’t have the same rhythm as the Miami song does. The moon has become a romantic symbol, especially a full moon which occurred recently. I remember noticing the full moon during the dreadful news about the massacre in Brussels and thinking that we were seeing that same moon. That moon was looking down on peace here while watching over terror there. Here is a picture someone took of our Sunshine Skyway bridge that night.

When I saw that picture, it reminded me of the British Olympics in 2012 when someone with a camera took a picture of the Olympic symbol with the full moon completing the picture.

Our dream is that the next full moon will shine only on peace, not terrorism.
