The pastor of our church, King of Peace MCC, has been undergoing treatment for breast cancer, and the congregation has been praying for her healing. She started with chemotherapy and, of course, lost her hair. Then she had radiation treatments. When she finished the last radiation treatment, she was encouraged to ring a bell that had just been secured to the wall in the radiation treatment office. When she yanked on the clanger, the whole bell contraption fell, embarrassing her. Of course, telling the congregation about her strength became a nice humorous tale and added some levity to her serious situation.

Anyone who goes to a Winn-Dixie stores knows that they have also installed a bell which buyers are encouraged to ring if they have had good service while shopping. Today, when Dimitris and I finished shopping, we wanted to let Sandra, our checker, know that she had done an excellent job, as always, tallying our grocery bill. However, when we strolled over to the bell to ring it for her service, the bell was missing. We could not help but wonder if our pastor has been shopping at the Winn-Dixie on 58th Street North.
