Deja Vu

After World War I, which ended with the Treaty of Versailles, the people of Germany suffered from a belief that their great country was no longer great. The treaty forced Germany to disarm, make substantial territorial concessions, and pay “World War I reparations” to certain countries that had formed the Entente powers. Germans needed a leader to convince them that once again, they were great. The man who rose up to convince them of their greatness was a man who believed that the path to greatness was to weed out those who were keeping Germany from being great again. Those declared unacceptable were primarily Jews and homosexuals. Sadly, the people of Germany bought into this bully’s propaganda, and the result was the Holocaust. Although we would like to see our country better able to provide equality and the American dream, we must not let propagandists lead us down a path away from the moral basis of our beautiful America. America is still great. There is no reason to have a slogan like “Make America Great Again.” Vote carefully and with your mind in this election year when we elect the next President of the United States. God bless America.
