The History of the Golden Bear

Most everyone has his or her favorite restaurant. Mine is a small restaurant on Starkey Road by the name of the Golden Bear. I don’t know how it received its name. I do know that it is Greek owned, which thrilled my partner who spoke to the owner in Greek. I was first introduced to the Golden Bear by a friend who took me there for the first time. I’m sure I did not realize when I left that morning that the Bear would become my favorite restaurant. As this story would have it, I invited my friend Dan Lawrence to have breakfast with me at the Bear. After that breakfast, I suggested that we meet there again to which he replied, “Would you mind if Glenda came also?” Glenda is his wife, and after that the three of us began to meet there frequently and continue to do so. For a while the Bear employed a waitress named Rosetta who insulted everyone and became beloved doing so. So, if you just want some good ol’ eggs, grits, and hash browns, join us at the Golden Bear one of these mornings.
