The Land of the Free

I’ve told you about my partner’s incessant search for coupons of value. His latest pursuit started on Sunday when he learned that CVS, the drug store, had a tube of Colgate toothpaste selling for $3.00 with a $2.00 in-store coupon, dropping the cost to $1.00. Now you would think that Dimitris would be satisfied with a rather large tube of toothpaste available for only $1.00 plus tax. However, when he realized that he had another coupon he had cut out of another coupon booklet which reduced the price of the Colgate by another $1.00, he insisted we had to drive right over and get the free toothpaste, which we did. When we came out of the store with the precious Colgate, he put the sales receipt in his pocket, vowing to send it to his sister in Athens, Greece, to prove to her that he is living in the “Land of the Free.” By the way, he did have to pay .21 cent sales tax.
