Most of you have seen the little Microsoft icon that has appeared on your desktop advertising a free download of Windows 10. When I spotted it, I immediately e-mailed my local geek friend, asking if this was something I should do. Here is the advice I received from him:
Windows 10 is set for official release later this summer. It will be free to all Windows 7 & 8 users. I have already downloaded the Beta version on my second computer and I do like it. However, I would suggest you wait until the final version is ready. It will replace your Windows 7 operating system, but you will not have to re-install any programs or files, which is a first when updating an operating system! You can see how much space is on your C hard drive by right clicking on it and choosing Properties.
I have reserved my copy after finding that I had plenty of space on my hard drive and can download it on my present Windows 7 operating system. Windows 10 will be available from July 29, 2015.
