Recognizing our own Planks

Christians believe they have never done anything wrong. They are without sin. Muslims, on the other hand, do nothing but evil deeds. Once again, President Obama is under attack because, at the National Prayer Breakfast, he compared Christian extremists to Muslim extremists. He dared to mention The Crusades and slavery, which were both defended as beingĀ legitimate based on the Holy Bible, not the Holy Koran. We Christians don’t need to pretend that we are without sin. What we Christians have is not infallibility but forgiveness, and Lord have mercy, thank goodness for that. Recently, the Southern Baptist church apologized to African-Americans for slavery. I believe that one of these days, maybe not so far in the future, that the evangelical churches will apologize for their persecution of gay and lesbian people. ISIS is a horrible group of Islamist extremists that must be contained and eradicated, and the Muslim community is right in denying that they represent the teachings of the Koran. I accepted Christianity as a child and have lived my life under Christian principles. However, I am not without sin and have had to ask for forgiveness many times. Our President has confessed that he too is a sinner, saved by grace. Luke 6:41, “Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye?”
