KFC and TBC

Many of you know that every Sunday after church I stop at KFC and purchase five hot wings and a senior drink. That’s $4.27, and it’s lunch for the day. This past Sunday, the wings were not ready when I arrived, and I was asked if I would like to wait. My response: “I have no choice.” The clerk gave me my cup so I could have something to drink while I waited so I poured my usual lemonade. As I sat in one of the booths drinking my lemonade, I spotted a sign on the wall proclaiming: “Colonel Sanders never retired. He only began building his business at age 75.” Well, I too am 75, and I’m ready to start building my legacy. I am reasonably healthy, I still have my ability to reason and decide, I am able to continue working at St. Petersburg College, I am able to volunteer at the library and at the Freefall Theater, and I have someone who will become a partner in my endeavor to function and make an impact. I don’t know exactly what I’m going to do or where I’m going to go, but I, Thomas Bobo Cooper, want to be like Colonel Sanders who never started late and made an impact.

Excellent outlook. And all of that just because your wings weren’t ready. Go figure!!!
