Sorry, Wrong Number

When I agreed to use Bright House as my cable provider, I was excited to learn that instead of having to dial their seven digit phone number, I could instead dial 611 in order to connect with someone at Bright House who could give me assistance regarding my telephone. How convenient. I have since learned that there are other shortened numbers that can be use such as 211 for Health and Human Services and 511 for Traffic & Weather. Recently, my cable connection was out for a lengthy amount of time so I decided to call Bright House for assistance. My fingers, poised over the digital keyboard, mindlessly dialed 9-1-1. I knew right away that I had dialed the Emergency Services number accidentally so I quickly hit end call. Evidently, it was not immediately enough as shortly thereafter I heard my doorbell ring and standing there were two of St. Petersburg’s finest. I explained and apologized for my mistake, and they kindly accepted my apology but urged me not to hang up the next time I might make the same mistake.
