Night, Night

I live alone. During baseball season, I am fine. There is a game almost every night. During the non-baseball season, I’m not all right. I eat dinner, watch the evening news (local and national) and then wonder what I’m going to do now that Brian Williams has given me the national and international news, and the “Rachel Maddow Show” doesn’t come on for two more hours. I refuse to sit and watch just any entertainment show on TV to pass the time. I can read, but I usually don’t read for two solid hours. I can write–that’s what I’m doing now. I can sleep–don’t want to do that before bedtime. I can talk on the phone–I’m not much of a phone talker. Remember, my cell phone “lives” in the car. Those two hours can be a real challenge to someone who lives alone and basically watches only news, sports, and weather on TV. Occasionally I watch a movie on DVD. I have even been known to head to the Dairy Queen for a Blizzard. Most of the time I get caught up in writing e-mails or playing Spider Solitaire or playing Words With Friends on my iPod. Anyhow, at 10:00, I am ready for bed and ready to say, “Thank you, Lord, for another day.”
