Happy Birthday to You

Today is the birthday of my brother, Jackie K. Cooper, who is 71 years old today. He is the more ambitious of us two and says he has accomplished everything in life he set out to accomplish. He has a law degree, writes for various news organizations including the Huffington Post, has a TV show, reviews books and movies, has rubbed shoulders with many stars and authors, and lives with his wife Terry in the quiet little town of Perry, GA. My brother and I are very different yet very much the same in other ways. We sound alike when we speak. However, our lives are totally different. He is retired and is a Republican. I am divorced, live alone, and am a Democrat. When we talk, we talk “good.” I mean by that that we can hold an interesting discussion regardless of whether we are agreeing or disagreeing. I respect my brother for his accomplishments. While I disagree with the way he handles disagreements, I have to accept him as he is. He is the only brother I have and, as he has said, we are the only ones in the world who know each other’s history. So, on your 71st birthday, your 74-year-old brother wishes you a Happy Birthday and years and years of good health and happiness.

What a nice birthday tribute to your brother….although from my perspective you are as equally ambitious…and as accomplished, but in different ways perhaps.
