Well, I promised you a second Bible story poem, and here ‘tis:
ODE TO JONAH
The story of Jonah is hard to believe;
A whale swallowed Jonah, he got no reprieve.
Joe said no to Nineveh, said, “Go to hell;”
But God had His purpose, with God all was well.
Yet Jonah was adamant, said, “I say ‘nay,'”
And headed to Tarshish, God not to obey;
But God had His purpose, which Jonah ignored,
Pursued not God’s will and was thrown overboard.
Now Jonah sank down from where he had been flung,
Till he sat in the whale on the tip of his tongue;
And Nineveh sounded much better and better,
As Jonah from whale spit got wetter and wetter.
Till finally the fish gave an awful loud burp,
And Jonah knew God’s plan and not his would work;
So straight for the mission field he went in haste,
Though time had been lost, still God’s plan was in place.
Now what may we learn when God’s will we reject?
Will He just let us go till we lose self-respect?
No. For as God took Jonah, forgave from above.
No matter what we do, He sends down His love.
