In baseball, no player wants to strike out. In bowling, nothing could be more appreciated. I am not a baseball player, but I am an amateur bowler–I stress amateur. I don’t bowl on a team but bowl once a week with one of my best friends. I have, in the past, bowled in a church bowling league where I scored my best game ever–a 237. I’ve never come anywhere near that score since. My buddy and I bowl every Saturday morning at 8:30. We bowl two games and pay for one (I always bring a bowling coupon for us). Our big spending on bowling amounts to $2.41 per Saturday morning. We have been meeting to bowl for a very long time. I am the one who comes home and figures out our running average for the year. I asked Coffman recently how long we have been bowling. He replied, “I don’t know, but one thing we can say is that we have NOT improved.” Unfortunately, that is true, but we do have a good time and are looking forward to next Saturday morning when I’m sure we’ll bowl strike after strike.
